For one engineer on annual billing that is about $1,251 a year for XTEN-AV Basic and $300 a year for Patchify Pro. For a five-person team it is about $6,705 a year on XTEN-AV Business and $1,000 a year on Patchify Team.

How do the device libraries differ?

XTEN-AV's library is much larger: 1.5 million products against Patchify's 5,000+ devices from over 100 manufacturers. The libraries are built for different jobs. XTEN-AV's catalogue feeds product selection and proposals. Patchify's entries carry each device's inputs and outputs with a signal type, which is what the diagram, the connection checks and the cable schedule run on.

In both tools you can add equipment that is missing. In Patchify, custom gear is available on every paid plan.

Which suits live events and broadcast, and which suits integration proposals?

If your work starts with a sale, XTEN-AV links the design to the quote, the proposal and your CRM. Patchify has no proposal or CRM features.

If your work is engineering the system and documenting it for the crew, Patchify puts the paperwork in one project:

  • Signal flow diagrams with numbered cables, checked port to port. See AV diagram software.
  • 19" and 10" rack elevations, and custom panels in the patch panel designer.
  • Cable schedules, cable and panel labels, power and circuits, and a bill of materials priced from CPC (UK) or Newark (US).
  • Job sheets with checklists and on-site signatures, and a project report PDF for handover.
  • A Windows desktop app that works offline, and the interface in seven languages.

When is XTEN-AV the better choice?

  • You want proposals, e-signatures and CRM or accounting integrations in the same tool as the drawings.
  • You want an AI assistant to suggest products and draft designs.
  • You need ceiling speaker layouts or want to import AutoCAD or Visio floor plans.
  • You need mobile apps for the sales team.
  • You select products from a very wide catalogue and quote them in the same place.

When is Patchify the better choice?

  • You draw the system and hand the documentation to an install or show crew.
  • You want the cable schedule, labels, racks and panels to come from one drawing.
  • You design custom patch panels and need DXF faceplates and build sheets.
  • You need to work offline on site.
  • You are a freelancer or small team and per-user pricing is hard to justify.
